Katie Monaghan Rauber

Katie Monaghan-Rauber is a qualified primary school English teacher with a Bachelor's degree in business and IT and a post graduate in education. She currently teaches grades 3 and 4 at TAZ Horgen Bilingual Day School, Zimmerberg. When she started at the school she implemented the national literacy strategy and helped train the other English teachers use it in a cross curricular way with the Zurich curriculum – topic based. The programme is proving successful and she is currently writing a bilingual curriculum for the school.

2005 – 2006 Katie was a Reception Teacher at The British School of Amsterdam, Netherlands. She planned, taught and assessed, knowledge and understanding of the world, language, mathematical, physical, creative, motional and social development of 18 reception children from 10 different nationalities. Worked and planned with three other reception teachers and managed one nursery nurse. Planned and ran a THRASS week in the infant school which was very successful and provided rich learning experiences for nearly 230 children aged between 3 and 6.

2003 – 2005 Katie was a KS2 Classroom Teacher and ICT Co-ordinator at St John Fisher Catholic Primary School, Oxford. She co-ordinated the planning for a mixed year 3/4 group of 52 children and taught a class of 28. Taught all core subjects on a daily basis in addition to PE, RE, Music, Art, D&T, Geography, History, ICT, and global citizenship. Managed and organised the timetables for 2 teaching assistants. Supported, planned and managed the ICT needs of the school including helping teachers plan & source resources for various curriculum topics such as Science, history, geography amongst other subjects.

Prior to starting University as a full-time mature student she worked for Charles Hurst and Business Industrial Computer Systems Ltd. After graduating she worked for a variety of organisations in high level administrative and IT roles. She also had a part-time career in the Navy and spent three years working for the First Sea Lord (Admiral of the Royal Navy) in London, preparing, typing & proofreading important legal documents to Secret classification. Finally in 2002 she decided to complete her PGCE to become a teacher.
